It covers a broad range of topics and devotes considerable space to consideration of current issues - diversity, pay, working time - that are often neglected or lack exposure in other texts. Because it is rooted in a solid sociological approach it permits a more critical engagement with the subject area and draws out many of the contemporary debates surrounding work and employment as well as ER.
