The increasing level of involvement of women in public life is one of the primary issues of contemporary scientific discourse. Among the numerous changes taking place in contemporary society of those worth mentioning are ones which determine the femime condition, her role in the public and private sphere and her participation in the processes of mass communication. Women are currently required to combine their working life with family life and this often impacts upon their choices. The media frequently emphasize existing gender stereotypes. Furthermore, media coverage influences women\'s activity in politics, as well as their professional and public life. The image of the woman depicted in the mass media is not always objective, and women\'s issues are often treated as somewhat less significant.\nIt was within this context that a group of researchers from the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań prepared the texts to make this publication possible. The subject matter undertaken is portrayed in three parts: women\'s involvement in political activity, women\'s involvement in the media, and women\'s involvement in the socio-economic activity.\nThis publication is intended primarily for academic community, particularly females, and for anyone else who may be interested in this field of study. The authors believe that this volume, with its wide and diverse views on the subject matter, will further enrich the existing literature within contemporary, media, political and socio-economic discourse.
