Since the beginning of the 1940s Otto Haendler (1890-1981) has exercised a growing influence on practical theology and the fundamental questions of ecclesial practice. His interdisciplinary argumentation, his texts written sometimes in direct dialogue with C. G. Jung, have contributed to far-reaching changes regarding the self-image and the occupational profile of pastors. At the height of dialectical theology, Haendler raised the question of the significance of person and subject for the life of faith of the church. An editorial project starting in 2014 provided the opportunity to address in the context of a symposion the impact of his work and to ensure its achievements.
